Egypt Project

The kids have been paired up to research a topic of choice about ancient Egypt. They will take notes and write a paragraph about what they've learned with the class.

Book Give Away

Mr. Michaels came to our school and let us pick out two books from a large selection of fantastic stories. Thank you Mr. Michaels and the Apple A Day program for coming each year. We have learned so much about ways to keep ourselves healthy and how to be good citizens.

Math Partners

Math partners at work again solving word problems in preparation for our chapter 4 test on multiplication this Thursday.

DBQ on the Nile River

Throughout last week, we read three documents on the river Nile. Friday they wrote an essay using these documents explaining how valuable the Nile was to the ancient Egyptians. Some then shared what they wrote with the class. I was very impressed!

Trimming the Tree

Everyone helped trim the tree with ornaments made by a dear friend Ms. Rasmussen. She stitched ornaments that have the year on it and our picture inside. The kids were thrilled! I'll send them home before break for you all to enjoy for years to come.

Dance

Brian came today to show us a few of his instruments, where they originated,  and how they're made.
We also learned how to trust our partner to catch us. We needed trust because in our Egyptian dance one student pretends to be a mummy in a sarcophagus being placed in a tomb.

Taylor Swift

Last week we watched an interview with Taylor Swift. She talked to a group of elementary students about how she deals with bullies even as an adult. She chooses to, "Shake It Off!" This interview sparked a great conversation in our class about ways we can handle someone trying to bully us.

A Jazzy Christmas

What a performance by some magnificent musicians.

Lollipop Sale

Thank you Gabrielle and Madelyn for selling lollipops during parent conferences. That was a long time they dedicated to helping third grade raise money for their upcoming field trip to Koto later this school year.

Ancient Hieroglyphics

Everyone made a bookmark with their name written in hieroglyphics. Many needed to trace the symbols because of how detailed they were. It really helped them see why few learned to read and write hieroglyphics back 5,000 years ago.
